Creating Your Safe Space - Or how to feel good wherever you are
If 2020 has shown us anything, it is that life is unpredictable.
The pandemic has affected the whole planet in one way or another. On a personal level, it will probably have triggered your core beliefs. You may have found that some of these beliefs are uncomfortable, upsetting or even devastating. You might feel that you need to help with one or more aspects of your life.
In order for any kind of change to take place, the body and mind need to feel safe.
People, generally, don’t like change. The subconscious decides how the world works, it makes decisions that lead to rules, that shape how you view and function in the world.
The subconscious makes decisions for us all the time. The most significant decisions you made were all in the first six years of life.
Yes, by the age of seven, you have already decided how the world works, what you think of yourself and others and what strategies you will use to live.
You learn by following the people around you and from your experiences.
These decisions and behaviours are enforced over time and they are not always helpful. For example, you might decide that you are not good enough, or that you can’t have what you want or any number of unhelpful beliefs.
Many of the behaviours are helpful and work brilliantly - getting dressed, brushing your teeth, preparing food, interacting with friends… All of these are programmed into your subconscious.
Later in life you might recognise some unhelpful behaviours and want to change them, for example, self-sabotaging, low self-esteem, negative self-talk. There are many ways to do this (this is the majority of my work with clients) but in order to make change, the subconscious needs to feel safe and secure.
I created the Stress Free Life Academy to provide self-help for you. There are courses, audios, videos, audios - all sorts of tips and goodies to help you change how you feel.
But you need to go deeper and re-write those limiting beliefs.
The first step is awareness - recognising you have a problem and wanting to change it.
Creating a space for yourself is the next step.
